Position Summary
As Senior Director, you will hold a key leadership position both internally and externally, driving the creation of innovative brand strategies that set the future direction for our clients and our agency. You will lead in crafting and evolving brand strategies, from developing new brands and revitalizing legacy ones to reorienting existing brands for future market challenges. Your strategic insights will be crucial in guiding creative reviews and in the development of impactful strategic frameworks that resonate deeply with audiences and clearly differentiate our clients in the marketplace.
In this senior role, you will be pivotal in evolving our strategic offerings into highly desired products. Your strategic recommendations will be the foundation upon which brand communications, encompassing creative media, content, social plans, business planning, and pitch strategy, are built, guiding not only how we communicate but also driving the overall strategic direction and growth of our brands.
Your expertise in strategy creation, combined with a profound understanding of market dynamics, will enable you to adapt to a variety of tasks within our strategy team. As a Senior Director, you will not only offer expertise across disciplines but also have input on the overall agency direction in partnership with our VP leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Craftsmanship
- Elevated Strategy Development: Lead the analysis and resolution of complex business challenges, creating comprehensive solutions for clients.
- Advanced Connection Strategies: Develop and implement sophisticated strategies that drive significant behavioral change, leveraging your deep understanding of audience dynamics.
- Strategic Insight Synthesis: Transform research, data, and cultural trends into actionable insights, crafting advanced creative briefs that inspire impactful campaigns and innovation.
- Audience Understanding: Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative research, developing nuanced multi-layered personas and audience profiles, guiding the team in leveraging these insights for strategic decisions.
- Growth team collaboration: Help to identify and seize new opportunities for both new and existing clients, showcasing your strategic vision in expanding business horizons.
Product Development
- Lead the transformation of our strategic offerings into indifference-fighting products
- Craft and implement storytelling strategies that amplify demand for our productized offerings.
- Collaborate with diverse specialty teams to integrate unique capabilities into our product offerings
Company Leadership & Client Partnership
- Confidently lead our clients and our company through the entire brand development process
- Partner with clients, becoming an extension of their team and embodying the role of a strategic thought partner.
- Contribution to Company Strategy and Vision: Assist in shaping the overall agency strategy and vision, collaborating with senior leaders and the VP leadership team to guide The Variable's direction in line with long-term goals.
- External Representation: Represent The Variable in significant external engagements, presentations and pitches, promoting the agency's strategic approach in brand strategy and building key relationships.
- Agency-Wide Collaboration: Work closely with team leads and creative leaders to ensure seamless planning and execution of projects, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation across departments
- Coach, inspire and support other Strategists, and contribute to the creation and/or execution of team-wide goals and initiatives

Qualifications
- 10+ years of planning/brand strategy experience with a strong track record of driving brand growth and differentiation across various categories.
- Expert in blending data-driven insights and cultural trends to craft actionable strategies that address complex business challenges.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, collaborating with creative, media, and growth teams to develop and execute cohesive brand strategies.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience building strong, strategic client partnerships.
- Leadership in mentoring and developing strategy teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Strategic thought leadership, with experience shaping agency direction and contributing to long-term business success.
