Corporate Senior Chemical Project Engineer
Full-Time, Permanent | St. Paul, MN (Hybrid, with travel to MN manufacturing clients)
US Citizens/Green Card Holders | Pay: $150-160K + Bonus
Job Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Engineering, the Senior Chemical Project Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the successful execution of capital projects, upholding engineering standards, and applying chemical engineering principles. This hands-on position combines project management with process engineering expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead capital project management, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and aligned with business goals. Estimate project costs, prepare documentation for funding approval, track project progress, and conduct audits.
- Design & Engineering: Develop FEED and detailed design deliverables, perform design calculations, and optimize equipment sizing. Establish and enforce engineering standards across all facilities, ensuring compliance with industry codes and specifications.
- Construction & Commissioning: Oversee contractor activities, manage bids, and supervise construction contractors. Lead the commissioning and startup of new installations.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Manage and mentor engineering teams, supporting the development of engineering competencies across all facilities.
- Manufacturing Support: Troubleshoot operations, optimize existing facilities, and lead process improvements across plants.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in chemical or refining industries, with strong project management skills.
- Experience managing capital projects, developing schedules, and estimating project costs.
- Process engineering experience, including performing calculations related to thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat/mass transfer, and chemical process fundamentals.
- Familiarity with MS Project for project planning and tracking.
- Experience managing remote teams and contractors.
- Willingness to travel (25%) to manufacturing sites and provide hands-on engineering support.
