Our highest priority is creating a welcoming workplace with team members from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
The Opportunity
Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Digital Product Manager. In this role, you will partner with business and tech stakeholders to manage the product/feature life cycle. Represent the voice of the customer to cross-functional teams such that they can set and articulate priorities. Partner on business cases to improve the end-to-end customer experience, enable employees to deliver services to VIOC customers and achieve operational efficiencies. Lead cross-functional teams tackling ambiguous challenges with influence. Use scalable communication techniques and collaboration methods to generate concise, accurate content in the right form for diverse audiences. Collaborate efficiently with tech to design, select, and implement enhancements that solve moderately complex problems. Connect stakeholders of all levels and across business divisions with the resources they need to do the right thing for Valvoline’s customers. Set own agenda and execute independently with limited oversight.
How You'll Make a Difference
- Partner with business and tech to build business cases. Assist in prioritizing digital solutions that improve end-to-end customer experiences, empower employees to service customers' needs, and produce operational efficiencies. Collaborate with tech and UX design to develop, select, and implement enhancements that solve moderately complex problems. Conduct business analyses (e.g., modeling, forecasting, statistical methods) to maximize impact.
- Provide subject matter expertise in digital product development. Exercise above-average written and verbal communication skills to gather and write requirements, customer narratives, and business cases; create and maintain documentation; and align stakeholders using cross-functional influence. Lead value-based discussions, convey complex lifecycle and delivery scenarios accurately, and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders. Influence goal setting and resource planning.
- Proactively identify customer needs via industry, market, and customer insights. Use technology, business, and process expertise to influence long-term vision for product/feature life cycle. Engage and assess vendors. Make build/borrow/buy recommendations. Define and articulate success metrics for moderately complex products/features.
- Assess technical feasibility, analyze the Return on Investment (ROI), and justify associated investments to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Technical knowledge, ability to generate diverse test plans, and familiarity with risk mitigation are critical to driving effective engineering outcomes. Post-launch, advise on expected behavior and monitoring, performance, scaling/tech debt, availability tuning, and incident resolution. Look for opportunities to make components extensible. Drive adherence to strategy, operating model, and continuous improvement.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion. Project Managers are responsible for results produced by teams that they do not directly manage and are accountable for the overall customer experience. Growth in the role is directly tied to a) identifying, defining, and resolving ambiguous product, function, and/or domain-driven problems, b) capacity to handle complexity and non-standard constraints, and c) track record as a force multiplier, ie. dramatically increasing (hence, multiplying) effectiveness of the group, such that they accomplish things orders of magnitude greater.
