Director of Operations
Commercial HVAC equipment manufacturer; part of a larger family of companies and a growing portfolio. This key Executive has responsibility for the strategy, planning, and management of manufacturing, sourcing, supply chain, transportation/logistics, production planning, inventory control, etc. -Someone who can be a visible leader driving operational excellence and lean manufacturing, and other techniques across the plant.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Operations implements the company’s Operations Strategy using best in class management techniques; responsible for the planning and management of manufacturing, sourcing, supply chain leverage, transportation/logistics, production planning, inventory control, customer service, etc. Collaborate closely with senior leadership and the corporate operations team to lead and guide operational initiatives within the organization, to ensure the overall business exceeds operational goals. The Director of Operations oversees the day-to-day company operations and acts as a change agent to help lead the organization into a data driven, team-oriented culture that embraces continuous improvement and ensures its implementation. Facilitate the sharing of "best practices" methods and ideas across the organization. Promote a continuous learning environment and ensures ongoing training and development of all Operations resources in the principles, techniques and methodologies of OpEx. The Director of Operations is a Visible Leader within the organization who participates in executive decisions; therefore, should have a strong business acumen and an understanding of other major departments such as engineering, manufacturing, production, customer service, support, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be a visible leader with team development skills; able to gain trust at all levels within the organization (executive management, business leaders, managers, line supervisors and shop floor employees).
- Provides leadership for continuous improvement supporting corporate principles
- Drives and supports operational excellence thinking within the business, maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery and customer service
- Lead operational efficiency projects, demonstrating a large-scale program management expertise.
- Design, develop and implement plans that create a flexible and efficient operational model that can scale with organizational growth.
- Establish and maintain material and labor productivity, as well as safety and quality initiatives with (KPIs) to ensure execution and develop a reporting process to drive improvements.
- Establish standards for protection of employee safety, including PPE, equipment guarding, training, problem resolution and ensure compliance.
- Leverage the spend and work with the business leadership to consolidate suppliers, as appropriate, including raw material suppliers, office supplies and MRO
- Implement, maintain, and support SIOP process across the business.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related discipline is required.
- Lean Certified a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience within Operational Excellence is required and a minimum of 5 years of management experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of successfully leading change initiatives including experience implementing Lean and Six Sigma from concept to full implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to use and effectively instruct in the proper use of Six Sigma and Lean Principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement Process, as well as other problem-solving tools.
