Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of Research and Development (R&D) employees and support them in achieving the agreed R&D targets. Each day, you will coach and develop the team. You will also showcase your expertise by helping in managing technologies, platforms, and Intellectual Property.
You will be mainly accountable for:
• Serving as a technical resource for the team and providing technical support for internal and external contacts.
• Planning and ensuring an appropriate project portfolio for the team.
• Contributing to technical bodies relevant to ABB R&D, inside and outside the company.
• Developing and acquiring competencies that will be needed for the development of future products and systems.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Software or Computer Engineering or information systems
- 8+ years of knowledge of managing embedded development teams, good understanding of software development models, cyber security.
- Experience taking embedded products from concept through to production
- Experience planning and coordinating projects with cross functional teams
- Experience managing external & offshore contractors
- Experience working with multiple releases & projects for multiple products and in coordination & collaboration with Other Program Managers
- Good knowledge of Business Gate Model and Quality Processes
- Oil and Gas industry experience a plus
- Sound knowledge of Waterfall, Agile methodologies, certifications in Scrum is preferred.
- Familiar with ISO development processes/procedures desired
- Familiar with the development activities/processes required by the software/hardware discipline
- A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills. Proficiency in English is required.
