The Tax Assistant will be responsible for a variety of clerical tasks, project tracking, calendar management, and data entry activities to ensure the smooth operation of our tax services department.
Primary Duties:
- Perform clerical tasks such as scanning, billing, revenue collection, and documentation to support tax preparation and filing processes. Assemble tax returns and supporting documentation in accordance with established procedures and deadlines. Filter and manage incoming documents, emails, and correspondence related to tax matters.
- Run weekly reports to track project progress and communicate updates to relevant staff members. Maintain project tracking systems and databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is available for decision-making.
- Assist managers and the director in managing their calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating upcoming events and meetings. Ensure timely communication and reminders regarding scheduled events and deadlines.
- Enter client information and financial data into the tax preparation software accurately and efficiently. Maintain electronic and physical files in an organized manner for easy retrieval and reference.
- Collect and organize client information and documents required for tax preparation and planning purposes. Collaborate with tax advisors to ensure all necessary information is obtained and documented for each client.
- Manage and prioritize emails for the director, including responding to routine inquiries and flagging important messages for attention.
- Collaborate with the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) team to update financial plans with relevant tax information and data as needed.
Requirements:
- General business or accounting degree
- Previous work experience preferred (additional emphasis on CPA firm experience)
