Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Writing Consultant to join their Medical Affairs team. This role requires an experienced medical writer with a strong background in oncology, preferably with expertise in solid tumors. The ideal consultant will have experience crafting high-quality scientific content, including abstracts, posters, slide decks, and oral presentations. A thorough understanding of the submission process for abstracts and posters is essential.
This is a 3-month long, fully remote, contract role. There is potential for extension based on performance and business needs. Consultants should expect to work 20-30 hours/week, with a possible ramp-up to 40 hours/week as the assignment progresses. Candidates can be based anywhere in the U.S. as long as they are flexible on hours and willing to occasionally attend calls at odd hours.
Responsibilities:
- Write and edit abstracts, posters, slide decks, and oral presentations related to ongoing oncology research, clinical trials, and other relevant scientific topics
- Work closely with the Medical Affairs, Clinical, and Research teams to gather and synthesize data and ensure scientific accuracy in all materials
- Manage the submission process for abstracts and posters for scientific meetings, ensuring adherence to deadlines and submission guidelines
- Interpret and summarize complex clinical and preclinical data into clear, concise, and compelling narratives tailored to the intended audience
- Ensure all written materials comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and scientific accuracy. Maintain consistency with the Client Company’s messaging and branding
- Assist in preparing materials for internal and external presentations, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with overall messaging
Requirements:
- BS Degree in life sciences, medicine, or a related field. Advanced degree in a scientific field (e.g., PhD, PharmD, or MSc) is preferred
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in medical writing, with a focus on oncology (preferably solid tumors
- Prior experience writing abstracts, posters, and presentations for scientific meetings (e.g., ASCO, ESMO)
- Strong understanding of oncology clinical trials, scientific research, and data interpretation
- Ability to distill complex scientific data into clear, concise, and well-organized documents
- Proficiency in creating presentations and posters using PowerPoint (or similar tools) with a strong eye for detail and graphic design
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and persuasive manner
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment
