Job Title: Sustainability Manager
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sustainability Manager to join our team. This role is crucial in executing sustainability strategies that align with our company’s goals, driving environmental performance, and ensuring compliance with regulations. As a Sustainability Manager, you will oversee sustainability programs, manage reporting, and foster internal and external relationships to advance our sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Execution:
- Sustainability Strategy: Execute sustainability strategies in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Metrics Tracking: Track and report on sustainability metrics monthly to ensure progress against goals.
- Data Management: Oversee sustainability data management across all business units to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Program Management:
- Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, including Operations, Procurement, Finance, and EHS, to coordinate and enhance sustainability efforts.
- Communication Campaigns: Develop and promote sustainability communication campaigns and stay informed on industry trends to educate internal stakeholders.
- Special Projects: Work with Management to coordinate special projects related to sustainability.
Technical Leadership:
- Initiative Management: Work with operations to evaluate new technologies that drive emissions reductions in our processes.
- Resource Management: Lead regenerative agricultural initiatives with our procurement team and grain suppliers
Compliance & Reporting:
- Mandatory Reporting: Lead compliance reporting and disclosure initiatives, including Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and ACC sustainability metrics.
- Annual Reporting: Compile and prepare report scorecards utilizing 3rd party tools such as CDP, Ecovadis, and/or Sedex, showcasing progress and achievements as required.
Industry Engagement:
- Reviews & Meetings: Provide regular updates and reviews of sustainability metrics to senior leadership and represent the company in industry meetings.
- External Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders and industry organizations to support sustainability goals.
Internal Collaboration:
- Stakeholder Interaction: Work closely with business units, Procurement, Human Resources, and Operations and accounting/finance to gather data, ensure compliance, and address sustainability-related requests.
- Supplier Engagement: Support Procurement in supplier assessments and enhance supplier engagement in sustainability practices.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 5+ years in sustainability roles, preferably within the chemical or manufacturing industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in sustainability reporting tools and data management; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools is a plus.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills with PMP certification preferred.
- Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Travel: Ability to work independently with travel to site at least one week out of the month
