The Network Operation Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Cisco and network infrastructure. Configure routers, switches and this person will need strong knowledge of network protocols such as STP, RSTP, MSTP, PVST, R-PVST, PVST. Participate in resolving incidents related to network health/performance, traffic, vulnerabilities. Remediate CPU alerts, IOS upgrades, and validate critical application services are running while maintaining Infrastructure Operations reports and managing change control successful tickets and management incidents.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Resolve incidents related to campuses and back offices within environments such as IT infrastructure, networking, SDWAN networks, VPNs, and Cisco networks.
Participate in the designing and operations of networks using routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, route leaking, route redistribution, route-maps, etc.
Execute end-to-end plans including designs and/or upgrades for enterprise-wide LANs/WANs while clearly and effectively communicating with cross-functional teams.
Coordinate any modifications to the network environment with other IT departments and change management and develop Concepts of Operation, Requirements, Basis of Design, and critical design documents and drawings.
Install, configure and maintain Cisco switches Catalyst 9000 Series, Cisco ACS, Cisco ISE.
Support protocols such as STP, RSTP, MSTP, PVST, R-PVST, PVST, VPC in addition to analyzing, assessing and documenting system configuration settings against established requirements.
Support project tracking by maintaining relevant log on boarding metrics and other relevant criteria while serving as a key team member for incident response related activities and collaborates with technical teams for security incident remediation and communication.
Document weekly operations activities, network traffic and any detected bugs or vulnerabilities while identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues in detailed reports.
Monitor KRI metrics for branches and campuses to ensure those comply with hardening.
Create and manage change requests following Change management policies and assess and implement changes.
Education & Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree is required
4+ years’ years relevant work experience with network engineering and datacenter operations
Bilingual in English & Spanish (verbal, written) is required
Previous experience designing and operating networks using routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, route leaking, route redistribution, route-maps, etc.
Previous experience installing Cisco switches Catalyst 9000 Series, Cisco ACS, Cisco ISE
Experience with protocols STP, RSTP, MSTP, PVST, R-PVST, PVST, VPC
Previous experience with WAN technologies (SDWAN, MPLS, DMVPN, VRF)
- Understanding of and experience applying Information Security concepts and protocols to core network infrastructure and data transport, IPsec, GRE Tunnel, Access control Lists (ACL's), VPN, 802.1x, MAB (MAC Authentication Bypass) and cisco ISE. AAA Architecture: Tacacs+, RADIUS, Cisco ACS, Cisco ISE
Desire Requirements (Not Mandatory):
Valid Cisco certifications including, CCNA and CCNP are highly desirable
