Our client is an investments and management company looking to bring on a Staff Accountant to add to their team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the finance team with a range of accounting functions, including monthly closing procedures, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation and cash flow forecasting. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, a solid understanding of GAAP and experience with accounting software like Microsoft Dynamics GP. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential to work across multiple departments.
Staff Accountant Responsibilities:
- Assist with monthly financial close activities, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reported in a timely manner
- Prepare and consolidate financial statements for multiple entities within the company, ensuring accurate reporting for the consolidated "roll-up" entity
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations for multiple entities, ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Reconcile multiple bank accounts, resolving discrepancies as needed
- Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with GAAP
- Handle invoicing, track historical aging and work with customers to resolve past due balances
- Assist with A/P coding and ensure payments are processed by the A/P department accurately and on time
- Assist in cash flow forecasting and monitor cash positions to ensure proper liquidity
- Maintain and organize key financial documents for future analysis, audits and reporting
- Work closely with other departments, offering support on financial matters, clarifying processes and collaborating on various accounting-related projects
Staff Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP / Excel or similar accounting software
- Strong understanding of GAAP and the ability to ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable communicating with various stakeholders and explaining financial matters
- Works well in team environments, contributing to discussions and supporting team efforts
- Experience in managing multiple tasks or projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Exposure in budgeting and financial forecasting
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
