We are a boutique probate and estate planning law firm seeking a legal assistant with experience in the probate field. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented individual that is confident speaking to clients, banks, and
Register of Will’s office and Probate Court clerks. We prefer that you have at least 1 year of experience in the probate field, but can train a candidate with comparable legal experience. The candidate will be able to confidently connect with our clients, build sincere relationships with them, and provide our legal services with excellence. You will need to be able to embrace our processes, follow specific procedures/instructions, complete tasks independently, and manage cases with varying assignments within deadlines with minimal supervision. This is an in-person position in our Bowie office and reliable transportation is required for delivery of documents to the courthouse.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare error-free probate documents including motions, petitions, Inventories, and Accounts
- Work directly with clients and financial institutions to gather documentation and information
- Manage client information and documentation and organize client paper and electronic files
- File documents with the Court/Register of Wills offices in PG and surrounding counties
- Monitor deadlines and manage cases to meet those deadlines
- Communicate well in-person, via phone, and via written communications with clients, attorneys, support team, court personnel, and financial institutions to maintain an exemplary level of client satisfaction
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year prior probate legal experience preferred
- Excellent time management skills
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for clear and error-free writing and grammar
- Possess high-level organizational skills and above-average attention to detail (please do not apply for this position if you do not naturally notice details like spelling/grammatical errors and missing/incomplete information)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to build sincere rapport with clients
