AP Professionals has partnered with a local company in search of a Construction Project Superintendent. The Construction Project Superintendent is responsible for managing the entire floor remodel, ensuring a seamless blend of on-site construction supervision and project administration for optimal efficiency, safety, and quality. This role requires exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and effective collaboration among project stakeholders.
This is a 100% on site role, some travel to Buffalo may be required.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute detailed project plans, efficiently allocating resources to meet timelines and budget requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders throughout pre-construction, construction, and post-construction stages to achieve project objectives, from initial mobilization to final close-out.
- Lead regular planning sessions to update schedules, monitor milestones, and adjust for unexpected challenges, supply chain issues, or weather delays.
- Serve as the primary on-site leader, overseeing daily activities, assigning tasks to foremen and subcontractor teams, and emphasizing safety, quality, and timely completion.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to adjust labor, equipment, and material needs based on daily site assessments and project progress. Evaluate foremen and crew performance, providing feedback and training to uphold project standards and drive continuous improvement.
- Select, negotiate, and manage subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring project timelines, quality standards, and compliance with New York State licensing and insurance requirements.
- Define clear work scopes and expectations, conducting regular assessments to ensure alignment with project and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with New York State building codes, Department of Education regulations, and OSHA standards, adhering to all safety protocols and legal requirements.
- Enforce the company’s safety program through site inspections, safety meetings, and toolbox talks to reinforce best practices.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all project documentation, including daily reports, accident reports, equipment logs, and timesheets with cost codes.
- Maintain comprehensive drawings and close-out documents, keeping project files updated with real-time conditions and scope changes.
- Submit regular status reports to the project manager and stakeholders, detailing progress, costs, and any scope adjustments affecting budget or schedule.
- Respond to client inquiries and feedback promptly, prioritizing customer satisfaction to promote repeat business.
- Act as the primary liaison between field operations and the project management team, facilitating efficient workflows and rapid issue resolution.
- Lead weekly project review meetings with the project manager to discuss costs, schedule adjustments, and site conditions, addressing potential issues swiftly.
- Track and control project costs daily, using tracking tools to compare expenditures against budgeted amounts.
- Review costs and schedules with the project manager regularly to ensure financial goals are met without compromising quality or safety.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in construction, with a focus on educational or commercial remodels
- At least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- OSHA 30 certification is highly preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of New York State Building Codes, Department of Education regulations, and standards for school construction compliance.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager).
- New York-specific safety certifications.
- Strong technical understanding of construction practices, building codes, and cost management strategies.
