The Company is engaged in milling, processing and marketing of branded and non-branded basmati rice, and manufacturing of rice food products in India & international market. Its operations include contract farming, procurement, storage, processing, packaging and distribution. Its rice product portfolio comprises brown, white, steamed, parboiled, organic, quick cooking brown rice, and ready-to-heat rice. The Company's brands include DAAWAT®, ROYAL®; 817 ELEPHANT®, INDUS VALLEY®, ECOLIFE® & GRAPEOLA®.LT Foods Americas is looking for a Safety Manager to support its Operations in California, Texas and New Jersey. This position would support projects in CA, NJ and SC with its home office located in Missouri City, TX.
The Safety Manager is responsible for proactively and strategically developing, coordinating and directing company-wide safety compliance programs, systems and initiatives, to include safety training, incident investigation/follow-up, incident prevention programs, safety awareness programs and minimizing property loss exposure.
Essential Job Duties as Safety Manager:
- Develop, implement and manage safety compliance programs and procedures (and performs related training) which includes Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tag-out, Blood borne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation (noise monitoring, hearing tests), Industrial Hygiene, Warehouse Safety, First Aid & CPR, Personal Protective Equipment, Respiratory Protection, Machine Guarding, Warehouse Equipment and Emergency Planning.
- Develops, organizes and facilitates mandatory safety training in compliance with regulations; evaluates training effectiveness.
- Provides guidance and technical expertise to all managers, supervisors and employees regarding mandatory requirements and safety procedures; recommends or directs corrective measures to ensure employee safety and adherence to state and federal requirements.
- Manages activities related to worker’s compensation claims management which includes maintaining OSHA recordkeeping and other regulated filing requirements, litigation management, employee follow-up, incident investigations with supervisors to correct safety hazards, facility tracking of incident and injury data to report trends and corrective actions and administering the employee return-to-work program.
- Review/approve Activity Hazard Analysis for projects.
- Conduct regular safety audits, identify and evaluate hazards in the workplace and recommend solutions to minimize or eliminate risk.
- Manages all interaction with regulatory agencies including OSHA, Emergency Services, etc
- Chairs safety committee, including follow-up on open issues.
- Develops and manages safety/incident prevention programs including safety awareness programs.
- Provides for investigations of accidents to determine root causes and implements and/or recommend preventive measures to prevent future occurrences.
Education, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field required.
- Five to seven years of progressive safety leadership and management experience.
- Knowledge of grocery retail, production and construction environments preferred.
- Knowledge of CalOSHA and Federal OSHA laws and regulations.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Routine attendance at meetings and other off-site events requires the ability to travel to California, New Jersey and South Carolina. This position will be based in Missouri City, TX. Position will require travel to domestic locations.
