Responsibilities:
- Develop 3D CAD designs for custom automation using SolidWorks.
- Guide a multidisciplinary team of engineers to conceptualize and solve complex automated systems and process development challenges.
- Design custom precision parts and assemblies.
- Select, size, and integrate off-the-shelf pneumatic actuators, motorized actuators, indexers, bearings, drive train components, and other typical automation equipment.
Experience/Skills:
- Must be US citizen. No sponsorships.
- Must pass a background check.
- 10+ years’ experience in custom automated system design required.
- Possess strong mechanical engineering and manufacturing engineering backgrounds.
- Have a strong understanding of controls engineering, automated control system design, and controls components, but are not expected to be proficient at developing software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Controls, or Systems engineering is required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Must be experienced in developing and managing project schedules using Microsoft Project or similar software.
- Must have experience working with customers to develop and author system specifications, and guiding a team to a conceptual design and detailed design that meets the specifications.
- Must possess strong analytical abilities and be able to perform calculations to confirm custom component design and off-the-shelf component selection. Routine calculations include forces, moments, torques, accelerations, impact loading, stiffness, and stress.
- Hands on experience with assembly, debug, and installation of complex automated systems is a requirement.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix mechanical and electrical problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a requirement.
- Fluency in SolidWorks is required.
- Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Training provided.
Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:
- Experience in conducting DFMEA is preferred.
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD platforms is preferred.
- Experience in developing budgets and proposals for one-of-a kind automated systems is preferred.
