Cathode Materials Scientist
Xerion Advanced Battery Corp., a privately-held lithium-ion battery start-up, is commercializing its patented molten salt electroplating technology and battery architecture that together significantly enhances the performance of lithium-ion batteries while dramatically reducing manufacturing costs. In addition, our sustainable manufacturing process has much lower carbon emissions than the conventional process.
We have an immediate opening for a cathode materials scientist. In this role, you will explore synthesis of LIB cathode materials using various methods. You will study LIB cathode materials using advanced characterization tools and communicate with the management team to facilitate team decision making. The successful candidate should have exceptional technical capability, communication, and project management skills. Prior experience in developing high Ni content cathode material is highly desired. Expertise in molten salts, chemical synthesis, electroplating, and/or batteries is a strong plus. This is a unique opportunity to join a well-funded, fast growing battery startup company. Responsibilities:
· In charge of battery cathode materials development projects.
· Summarize and report findings to the management team in a timely manner.
· Conduct battery materials synthesis using methods including but not limited to: electroplating, solid-state, sol-gel, and molten salt synthesis.
· Conduct battery materials characterization using tools including but not limited to: XRD, SEM, EDS, FTIR, Raman, and electrochemical methods.
· Establish high quality SOPs.
· Collaborate with academic and industrial partners in R&D projects.
Requirements:
· Research experience in battery materials, especially in materials synthesis and characterization.
· Master degree with three years’ experience in a battery company or Ph.D. degree in a related field.
