A well-established regional Florida law firm is seeking an experienced legal assistant/paralegal for its Fort Lauderdale, FL office. Candidates with at least three consistent years of recent insurance defense litigation experience will be considered. Experience with First-Party Property, Third-Party Property, Premises Liability, and/or Construction Defect cases is a big plus.
Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Reviewing documents for deadlines and monitoring and calendaring same pursuant to confirmed court orders;
- Coordinating and scheduling hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials, and assisting attorneys in preparation of same;
- Preparing and filing pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and related documentation using Florida’s E-Filing portal;
- Assisting in the execution and service of discovery requests and third-party requests for production and
- Preparing and revising legal documents and correspondence.
Qualifications:
- Experience with time tracking/entry/billing for a partner or busy associate
- Strong communication skills
- Highly organized
- Working knowledge of law firm case management software
- Ability to work in a team as well as individually
- Minimum 3 years of insurance defense experience
- Good professional stability and tenure
