Clark Restaurant Service OneSource, located in Owensboro Kentucky, invites applications for a full-time Buyer.
This position is responsible for the procurement of inventory products to be sold to our customer base. The buyer will place purchase orders with partner suppliers to maximize sales potential and profitability, ensuring product arrives in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and processes purchase orders for inventory based on supplier lead times, forecasts, and customer demand to minimize days of inventory on hand and out of stocks
- Coordinates with suppliers, logistics and warehouse members to resolve purchase order issues
- Proactively maintains daily inventory levels, minimizes out of stocks, offers substitute items when necessary, coordinates with sales for special order items, monitors dated product, and maintains accurate item file maintenance
- Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products with attention to our market and customer base
- Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers and brokers, negotiates contracts and pricing with suppliers, maintains proper costing within company standards, submits accurate invoices to accounting, communicates with sales and suppliers for customer credits
- Assesses financial risks of purchases and analyzes opportunity buys
- Informs, educates and supports the sales team on specific products within the buyer’s scope
- Attends trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain current understanding of new products and trends
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business related field or equivalent work experience
- 1 year of prior experience in procurement, foodservice experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
