About the Company - We are seeking a Network Operations Specialist to manage and maintain SMS Inbox services and provide after-hours support when necessary. This role includes monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining SMS messaging systems and related network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls. This position will work closely with the team to ensure consistent performance and availability of critical services. This is a 6-month part-time (20 hours a week) + on-call temporary position located in Fairfax County, VA. You must be available to work onsite.
About the Role - Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operation of SMS Inbox services, ensuring optimal performance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot comm and networking systems, including SMS gateways, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Manage hardware inventory, including tracking, procurement, and asset management for SMS services.
- Follow procedures for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of telephony hardware and related assets.
- Support the integration of new services by adhering to standard operating procedures.
- Provide on-call support, responding to incidents outside of regular business hours as needed.
- Assist in service monitoring to ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and other operational standards.
- Generate reports detailing service status, inventory levels, and other relevant operational data.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in network operations or telecommunications, with a preference for those with data center backgrounds.
- Strong knowledge of telephony systems and network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and servers.
- Experience with installing and maintaining network or telecommunications systems.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Familiarity with network and system monitoring tools.
- Willingness to perform on-call duties and respond to incidents outside of regular business hours. Must be able to travel to the work site in Fairfax County, VA as necessary.
- Attention to detail and adherence to established procedures.
Preferred Skills:
- Technical certification or a degree in telecommunications or networking.
- Hands-on experience with communication systems that support SMS/text services
Pay range:
$50/hr plus premium pay for on-call work performed.
Background check and U.S. citizenship are required for this role.
