Real Estate Development Attorney

Responsibilities:
• Development Legal Framework: Lead the legal aspects of all real estate development projects, including structuring the legal framework for developments and preparing and reviewing key documents such as letters of intent, purchase and sale agreements, easements, construction-related licenses, and other development-related documents.
• Project Lifecycle Management: Depending on experience, work directly with company developers on projects throughout their entire lifecycle, including site acquisition, due diligence, land closing, construction start, opening, operation, and eventual sale.
• Advisory Role: Provide legal advice and strategic guidance on both legal and business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and alignment with company objectives.
• Negotiations and Communications: Engage in negotiations and maintain communications with various stakeholders, including land sellers, purchasers, city representatives, utility companies, and other parties involved in development projects.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate closely with development, construction, risk management, property management, and accounting departments to support project needs and ensure successful outcomes.
• Transaction Leadership: Lead transactions and manage all related legal activities, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with company strategic goals.
• Loan Closings: Potential involvement in loan closings, providing legal support and ensuring compliance with relevant financial and legal standards.
Experience and Qualifications:
• Real Estate Development: Experience in real estate development is required, with a focus on managing legal frameworks and document preparation.
• Specialized Experience:
o Experience in mixed-use development is a plus.
• Title and Survey Knowledge: Strong understanding of title and survey issues is required.
• Construction Loan Experience: Experience with construction loans is preferred.
• General Legal Experience: While this role does not focus on joint venture agreements with third-party equity providers or construction contracts, general experience in these areas is beneficial.
• Professional Background: Experience working in a larger law firm is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience Levels:
o Junior Level: At least 4 years of relevant experience not to exceed 10 years
