This position is responsible for the organization's risk management activities, which include the investigation
and management of claims in conjunction with outside legal counsel. Managing and analyzing risk
management data and conducting risk management educational programs, all with the objective of
controlling and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the organization. Investigates and follows up on
concerns and complaints. Also, this position is responsible for patient safety and implementing JCAHO
National Patient Safety Goals/Standards. Maintains and continually improves the Corporate Compliance
Program by conducting audits, monitoring, and training and educating staff, management, Medical Staff and
the Board of Trustees. Chairs the ethics committee.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree is required.
Required Skills
Excellent communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills. Ability to function calmly and rationally in
high stress situations and ability to build harmonious relationships with hospital management, personnel, and
physicians.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.
Licenses: Current NC Nursing Licensed or Multistate Nursing License
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum 2 years experience in healthcare risk management, or claims investigation/management.
Management/Supervisory experience preferred. Should have experience with OSHA and JCAHO.
