About the Role:
The Process Controls Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing projects including the installation of instrumentation and controls and the replacement of Distributed Control Systems and automated machinery at our Urbana, OH facility.
Responsibilities:
- Provide application/control design, architecture, and development for systems of varied complexity.
- Develop and evaluate alternative system solutions that meet stated customer requirements.
- Create/modify program/system logic involving multiple systems and subsystems.
- Proficient in several programming languages and control device networks including, but not limited to Siemens, Allen Bradley, and ABB.
- Proficient with HMI design, PID loops, Machine networking.
- Interacts with customers, engineering, maintenance, and production employees to resolve issues and identify opportunities.
- Define scope, plans, and deliverables for assigned work.
- Manages development efforts, including activities such as assigning tasks to co-workers, conducting project plan reviews, preparing development-related documentation, and monitoring cost and resource estimates.
- Provide technical support and estimates.
- Provide on-call technical support for the Urbana paper manufacturing facility.
- Conduct training and foster professional development with engineering, production employees, and maintenance departments.
- Manage capital projects; including but not limited to purchasing, installing, and starting up new process equipment.
- Supervise and coordinate contractors performing work on control and safety systems.
- Document time and explanation on work orders using SAP.
Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 3 years experience in industrial controls or 10 years of Controls experience in a manufacturing plant (paper manufacturing preferred).
Extensive development experience with ABB DCS, Siemens, or Allen Bradley controls.
Strong project management and leadership skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Walking, stooping, lifting, and ability to work in a hot and humid environment for extended periods.
