Job Description:
The Legal Secretary will provide administrative support to attorneys and assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents. The ideal candidate will have experience with Electronic Case Filing (ECF) and a solid understanding of basic legal documents, including motions and orders. Familiarity with bankruptcy law is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, format, and file legal documents, including motions, orders, and pleadings, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Manage ECF filing processes for both state and federal courts.
- Draft correspondence and maintain organized files for attorneys and clients.
- Schedule appointments, hearings, and meetings, ensuring efficient time management.
- Assist in the preparation of case files, including research and document compilation.
- Maintain and update case management systems, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Provide general administrative support, including managing phone calls, emails, and office supplies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree or relevant certification is a plus.
- Minimum [2] years of experience as a legal secretary, preferably in a law firm setting.
- Proficiency in ECF filing and a strong understanding of legal document preparation.
- Familiarity with bankruptcy procedures and documentation preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal management software.
