Senior Mechanical Engineer - PE
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our industry-leading design-build clients in Georgia and Florida. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems design, particularly in HVAC for critical facilities, and extensive experience leading engineering teams. This role involves working on innovative, coordinated design-build projects across the country, with a focus on delivering high-quality, value-conscious solutions that meet client needs and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee mechanical design processes for multiple projects, managing production budgets, schedules, and personnel.
- Lead projects through all phases, including bidding, design, permitting, and construction, ensuring high standards of quality control and value engineering.
- Prepare and review load calculations, specifications, and equipment selection, ensuring alignment with project requirements and codes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, including Revit/CAD technicians and junior engineers, ensuring constructability and code compliance.
- Coordinate mechanical and plumbing systems with other disciplines, including electrical, architectural, and structural teams.
- Respond to RFIs and review submittals, solving installation problems and applying risk management procedures to minimize issues.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews on project calculations, designs, and deliverables to ensure compliance with codes such as IPC, IMC, IBC, ASHRAE.
- Write sequences of operations for various mechanical systems, including AHUs, CHW, HW systems, and perform advanced equipment selection for chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and more.
- Meet with clients and vendors to discuss project requirements and equipment specifications.
- Manage work plans, deliverables, and revisions, ensuring projects stay within scope and on budget.
- Contribute to market sector-specific engineering, particularly in critical facilities like data centers, hospitals, and telecom industries.
Requirements:
- 7-10+ years of relevant experience in project management and mechanical design, with a strong understanding of HVAC systems in critical facilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes, including IPC, IMC, IBC, ASHRAE.
- Experience with VRV, WSHP, DX Split systems, hydronic, and airside systems (VAV, CV).
- Proficiency in Revit/CAD and experience working with design and construction documentation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex design problems while meeting budgetary and scheduling constraints.
