Position: Director of Capital Markets

About the Role:
A leading renewable energy development company is seeking an experienced Director of Capital Markets to join its team. This individual will lead the capital raising efforts, with a focus on tax equity and construction financing for large-scale renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project finance, managing transactions from start to finish, and a deep understanding of tax equity structures. The role will also involve working closely with internal development teams to ensure successful project delivery from greenfield through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the tax equity financing process, structuring and closing transactions to support the company’s portfolio of renewable energy projects.
- Oversee project finance activities, including sourcing and managing construction debt, equity, and long-term financing for renewable energy developments.
- Collaborate with development teams to support projects from the early development stages through commissioning.
- Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and financial partners to ensure successful capital raising efforts.
- Monitor financial markets and identify new opportunities for innovative financing structures.
- Lead negotiations and secure favorable terms for all project financing deals.
- Prepare and present financial models and investment materials to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in capital markets, with a strong emphasis on tax equity financing for renewable energy projects.
- Proven experience leading the end-to-end financing process for utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind, or energy storage).
- Strong understanding of project finance, including debt, equity, and tax equity structures.
- Demonstrated experience working on greenfield development projects from inception through to commissioning.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and financing transactions simultaneously.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience working with external stakeholders such as banks, investors, and tax equity partners.
- Strong financial modeling and presentation skills.
