Position Overview:
TerraForce is seeking an experienced Vice President of Software Development to build and lead our software team. Long term, this position will focus on managing software development for our robotics and automation systems, with a primary emphasis on leadership, strategic direction, and team management. Short term, the position will involve limited hands-on code production. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical foundation and familiarity with ROS, computer vision, and Nvidia’s suite of development tools.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement a software development strategy aligned with TerraForce’s goals strategic initiatives.
- Lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering collaboration and innovation in the development of cutting-edge software solutions.
- Make strategic decisions on architecture, processes, and tools to deliver robust software systems.
- Collaborate with other individuals and teams, including hardware engineering and management, to ensure alignment on technology initiatives.
2. Project & Team Management
- Oversee the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment of software for robotic and automated systems.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Ensure high-quality software through rigorous testing and continuous integration practices.
- Promote continuous improvement of development methodologies, tools, and best practices.
3. Technical Production
- Write specifications for outsourced code.
- Generate limited code.
- Review, test, and trouble shoot code generated by others.
- Troubleshoot and revise code during field testing.
4. Technical Expertise
- Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support, particularly in areas related to ROS, computer vision, and Nvidia’s development tools (such as Isaac).
- Familiarity with computer vision concepts.
