Job Description:
The Mission Critical Superintendent is responsible for the daily operation of a job site focused on mission critical facilities, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. This role supervises all direct labor positions on the assigned project and manages contracted work to ensure successful project completion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Study specifications to plan procedures for construction based on starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase.
- Interact with the Project Manager to determine the project schedule and develop "look ahead" schedules to assess progress and identify upcoming issues.
- Coordinate pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
- Direct procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to meet work schedules.
- Ensure all parties involved with the project are informed of construction issues and progress through regular meetings.
- Work with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the project workforce.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
- Manage project progress based on reports, materials used, and costs; adjust work schedules as necessary.
- Collaborate with management to optimize labor allocation and manage costs.
- Ensure consistent implementation of company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a construction-related field, or equivalent experience, with at least 5 years of commercial construction experience in a Mission Critical environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes, specifically in mission critical facilities, and building codes; ability to read blueprints accurately.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites.
- Strong understanding of subcontractors' scopes of work and tolerances.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including basic Spanish preferred.
- Good administrative and management skills to monitor and coordinate work activities effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving ability with a proactive approach.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Professional appearance and conduct with a self-starter mentality.
- Experience with construction management software is preferred.
- Project experience with mission critical facilities valued at $10M+
