Supplier Quality Engineer

Basic Worker Function:

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical aspect of our external supply chain needs. This includes reviewing engineering specifications, understanding manufacturing/assembly needs, and working with our in-house engineers to develop solutions for our vendors.

Additional General Description of Tasks:

Drive supplier quality performance, including new product development and product quality improvement
Review our manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for production.
Research, source, and assess the best vendors to supply the necessary materials.
Visit vendor facilities and observe the manufacturing environment to review and assess their procedures.
Perform regular quality control audits to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with company and federal standards.
Review incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.
Provide technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
Maintain relationships with suppliers
Promote initiatives to improve quality
Serve as a liaison between our engineering department and the vendors to identify quality issues and develop production efficiencies

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical role
Proven experience in manufacturing and working with vendor contracts.
Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance skills.
Excellent analytical and technical skills with strong attention to detail
In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering.
Experience with manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles.
Ability to provide guidance to improve process efficiency.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills

Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering. In lieu of degree minimum 5 years experience as an SQE and 3 years experience in vendor management
