We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Data Science to join our Studios Teams at Foresight Sports. Foresight Sports is a global leader in golf technology, creating precision tools and experiences for golfers to interact with the sport in unprecedented ways. At the heart of Foresight Sports, the Studios Team is building the future of sim golf. We craft next-gen experiences for pro players and weekend hackers alike. Our immersive simulations go beyond traditional play; we offer rich content for entertainment, game improvement, and skills-based wagering. We make sim golf more fun.
As the Director of Data Science, you will be responsible for overseeing the data science team, developing strategic plans for data analytics, and driving the implementation of advanced analytics solutions. This role requires a blend of strong leadership skills, deep technical expertise, and a passion for data.
This position reports to the Head of Studio and is based in San Diego, CA.
As the Director of Data Science, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead and define the vision and strategy for Foresight Studios’ data science function, ensuring it aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
- Build and manage a high-performing data science team, including recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management.
- Develop and implement a data-driven roadmap for Foresight Studios, identifying key business problems and opportunities to be addressed through data science solutions.
- Partner with product owners, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable data science projects.
- Champion the use of data science across the organization, fostering a data-driven culture and promoting collaboration between data science and other departments.
- Develop and implement best practices for data collection, storage, management, and analysis.
- Lead research and development of new data science techniques and technologies relevant to the golf industry.
- Communicate complex data insights in clear, concise, and actionable ways to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Oversee the development and implementation of machine learning models to improve golfer experience, content optimization, and skill-based wagering.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of data science initiatives, ensuring they deliver business value.
- Manage data science budgets and resources effectively.
You have:
- 8+ years of experience leading and managing a data science team.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering impactful data science projects that drive business results.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others.
- Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and motivate a team.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to translate business goals into actionable data science strategies.
- Experience building and managing data pipelines for large-scale data processing.
