Scientist - Antibody Discovery
100% onsite in South San Francisco, CA
6-12mth contract (with long term contracting opportunity / potential future conversion)
Seeking a Scientist/Sr with background in molecular biology and protein biochemistry to work closely with members of the Antibody Discovery Team to support Large Molecule therapeutic programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design strategies and execute antibody discovery campaigns for therapeutic and reagent antibodies using phage display
- Generate antibody fragment libraries for antibody discovery and engineering, perform HT binding screens (ELISA and multi-plex flow cytometry) and sequence analysis to generate hits
- Rank-order clones by affinity, in vitro potency, and early developability assessment
- Execute sequence optimization of lead antibodies to improve developability and binding affinity
- Design and clone constructs for mAbs, bispecific, and multi-specific antibodies for recombinant antibody production
- Support NGS-based antibody discovery workflow
- Present data and updates to management and project teams
- Follow good documentation practice including maintaining good record keeping in Electronic Notebooks
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND
- PhD in Biochemistry, Biomedical/Chemical Engineering, Immunology, or related field with minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience (preferably in industry), MS with 8+ years of research experience, BS with 10+ years of research experience in antibody or protein engineering
- Significant experience in antibody discovery and protein engineering by using single B cell cloning, hybridoma, or phage/yeast display techniques
- Strong background in molecular biology, antibody and protein expression, and biophysical characterization of recombinant antibodies and proteins
ADDITIONAL PREFERENCES
- Experience in single domain antibodies, multi-specific antibody engineering, Fc engineering, antibody drug conjugates, naïve phage or yeast display library design
- Experience in NGS analysis for antibody discovery and engineering
- Significant contributions to successful biologics drug discovery programs in industry
