Job Summary:
The EH&S Manager is a mission critical leader dedicated to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and visitors. The successful EH&S Manager is passionate about continuously improving safety and employee welfare. The EH&S Manager assists engineering with environmental and regulatory functions to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. The EH&S Manager coordinates relevant employee training and maintains the plant training database. The EH&S Manager is a servant leader who supports other team members and actively participates in employee engagement functions.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Environmental and regulatory responsibilities including but not limited to:
· Permits/reports for township/state compliance.
· Monitor ink waste system process and provide support.
· Maintain the SDS database.
· Maintain HazCom compliance.
· Provide and monitor hot work permits.
· Monitor ink system and waste water discharge, including timely completion of all reports.
· Ensure timely completion and submission of all required environmental permits.
Health and safety responsibilities including but not limited to:
· Safety Leadership. Walk the plant floor on a frequent basis, spending time on each shift interacting with team members to drive continuous improvement and promote a safe culture.
· Lead the monthly plant SAFE audit and report results to the general manager.
· Maintain the OSHA log including calculation of OSHA related metrics including TCIR.
· Oversee hearing conservation and schedule audiometric testing.
· Investigate, monitor, and communicate accident investigation findings.
· Lead the safety committee and drive effective safety committee meetings.
· Track progress of safety related work orders.
· Manage plant fire/alarm system functions including fire pump tests, panel alarms, inspections and repairs.
· Manage safety boot and safety glasses voucher program. Schedule boot truck onsight periodically.
· Complete monthly guarding report.
· Conduct annual job hazard analysis audits and communicate updates.
· Perform plant safety compliance audits.
· Maintain and monitor plant fire extinguisher inspections and placement.
· Schedule and monitor fire drills.
· Review, update, and conduct training of plant emergency action plans.
· Promote employee safe health practices including hydration during hot months.
· Participate in periodic insurance company safety training sessions.
· Participate in HAACP meetings.
· Monitor and ensure safety vending machines, earplugs, first aid cabinets and stocked.
· Conduct eyewash and AED inspections.
Training responsibilities including but not limited to:
· Lead safety training during new hire orientation.
· Coordinate CPR and first responder annual certication training.
· Disseminate weekly Toolbox Topics to production leaders.
· Lead and ensure completion of all required EH&S training.
· Conduct LOTO training.
· Coordinate arc flash training.
· Conduct tow motor and high lift training.
· Conduct HazCom training.
· Conduct HazMat training.
· Coordinate fire extinguisher training.
· Maintain the training database.
· Provide support during third party audits (BRC) related to EH&S training.
Additional Responsibilities / Duties:
· Coordinate drug and alcohol post incident and suspicion testing, including after hours.
· Conduct hazard evaluations of jobs and process and perform routine inspections of facilities and operations for unsafe conditions and work practices and make recommendations to reduce/eliminate incident occurrence.
· Perform safety compliance audits to identify problem areas and provide recommendations for corrective actions as needed. This includes compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Follow up using good management techniques to ensure problems are resolved.
· Manage the incident investigation process. Monitor and distribute information as necessary.
· Coordinate activities of all outside agencies that impact safety. Maintain good working relationships with all agencies and follow up as needed on recommendations and/or citations.
· Plan, schedule, coordinate and/or conduct EHS training programs for employees and contractors such as HAZCOM, blood borne pathogens, fire protection, DOT requirements, etc.
· Assist in managing and maintaining day-to-day EHS programs, including new hire orientation, PPE requirements, etc.
· Perform ergonomic risk assessments of workplace/workstations, recommending corrective action to reduce/eliminate hazards.
· Participate, manage, and provide support for site safety committees and safety related events.
· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
· High School Diploma/GED required.
· Bachelor’s or advanced degree in EH&S related subject matter strongly preferred.
· Corrugated manufacturing or similar industrial experience preferred.
· Must possess a valid, current driver’s license.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with contractors, service techs (onsite/phone support), and fellow employees.
· Ability to work additional hours and weekends as necessary to meet business objectives.
· Proficient use of Microsoft Office to include PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
· OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
· Forklift / High Lift trainer certification preferred.
· UST Class A/B operator training/certificate preferred.
· Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues.
