Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking candidates for a Thermoplastic Production Technician position at the R&D facility of a chemical company in West Houston. The main responsibility of the position is to setup, operate, and troubleshoot polymer process equipment in support of product development, application development, and technical service.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate production equipment including extruder, film line, injection molding machine, roll mill, hot press, etc.
- Propose and/or implement equipment modifications based on type of polymer material used
- Prepare testing specimen with appropriate methods and equipment
- Conduct lab tests on a wide range of samples utilizing a variety of methods
- Report testing data to senior scientists and engineers
- Keep lab procedures up to date, write new procedures as required
- Maintain housekeeping of application workshop
Qualifications
- High School diploma with 8 years of experience in thermoplastic polymer processing
- BS degree in Polymer Science or related field with 3 years of experience in thermoplastic polymer processing
- Good mechanical troubleshooting skills preferred
- Ability to set goals and identify the processes necessary to accomplish them
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
- Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions and safety procedures
- Good communications skills including the ability to clearly communicate to all levels of the organization
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office and the ability to learn advanced software
