SummaryPerform diagnostic CT and radiologic quality imaging under the direction of a physician using professional judgement while maintaining proper technical and radiation quality standards. Provides courteous and professional delivery of imaging procedures while adhering to radiation safety precautions to promote patient satisfaction. Supports patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding PHI and HIPPA related information.
Job Duties
- Performs all types of imaging procedures & operates all equipment safely and properly including imaging equipment, injectors, & monitors.
- Reviews images of all exams, repeating as necessary to providing radiation protection in accordance with safety standards for best possible results.
- Communicates with the patient by addressing the patient by name, introducing self to the patient, explaining the exam in lay terms and keeping the patient Informed of exam progress.
- Ensures appropriate exam is ordered and images are delivered to the correct patient folder in PACS.
- Document LMP, fluoro time, number of images, appropriate history and any adverse reaction to contrast media or change in patient's condition.
- Prepares patients for imaging procedures by reviewing patient chart/script to verify pertinent information, assess patient's needs, medical history, and provides patient education.
- Attends department meetings or other mandatory meetings, assist with education and training of new employees, students and other ancillary personnel with a positive attitude.
- Ensures coordination of daily work duties with the team and coordinates timing of exams.
- Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the immediate work area.
Minimum Qualifications- Technical School Diploma Graduate of accredited Radiography program or equivalent and
- RT(CT) Certified
- experience as a Radiologic Technologist and
- experience as a CT technologist
- Ability to provide proper patient care essential to radiologic procedures.
- Knowledge and skills to perform all imaging exams on patients of all ages, adapting to various protocols.
- Proficient use of the advanced software for CT scanning and post procedure processing applications.
- Strong aptitude for CT technology.
- Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and upbeat demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications- Associate's Degree Graduate of Health Science program
- Knowledge and skills to perform venipuncture.
Physical DemandsLift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
