Our client's Data & Analytics organization is growing! This team specifically focuses on the Gas sector and is tasked with taking ad hoc requests for reporting on the business's needs whether it be dashboard creation related to departmental performance, financials, or historical data for predictive analysis.
This role focuses on creating SQL-based solutions to troubleshoot data issues, generate business insights, and deliver impactful visualizations.The Data Analyst should have several years' experience with SQL, Tableau and/or PowerBI, and experience with Data Warehouse tools like Google Big Query and/or SAP Hana would be preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and edit SQL queries to extract, analyze, and diagnose data, identifying and resolving issues within reports and dashboards.
- Leverage your knowledge of systems, organizational structure, regulatory requirements and mathematical/statistical expertise to develop new datasets, provide oversight to processes and systems affecting data quality, and perform exploratory analysis to discover new insights.
- Build and maintain data visualizations (dashboards, scorecards) using Tableau or PowerBI for to support exploratory analysis and business requests.
- Develop and implement business cases to apply the insights discovered to modify business processes and systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of work produced.
- Collaborate with other teams to dissect, troubleshoot, and improve data quality and performance.
- Extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources, preparing it for analysis and visualization.
- Analyze datasets to discover trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business process improvements.
- Prioritize and manage data requests from various departments to ensure accuracy and efficiency in reporting.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
- SQL Proficiency: Ability to write and diagnose SQL code for data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Data Visualization: Hands-on experience with PowerBI and/or Tableau for creating dashboards.
- Data Warehousing: Familiarity with data storage solutions like Google BigQuery or SAP HANA.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as a passion for learning and research.
- Collaborative Experience: Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Python programming experience.
- Familiarity with ETL tools like KNIME or Golden Retriever.
- Experience in a utility or energy sector is a plus.
- Experience with data governance.
- Experience interacting with employees of all levels to present technical data in a non-technical manner.
