PLEASE READ: This job posting is posted by a 3rd party recruiter filling this position on behalf of the client. This position is an on-site position in the San Francisco Bay area and remote candidates will not be considered.
Job Description
The client is a San Francisco-based social media company looking to revolutionize how we communicate with each other. They are constantly building, launching, and iterating.
They believe that the best consumer products are built by small teams with low egos. They want to continue trying and failing, experimenting constantly, and obsessing over the user experience. They go the extra mile in everything they do, with users being their only source of truth.
They have raised 3.1M from Keith Rabois at Khosla Ventures, OpenAI Fund, and angels like Naveen Rao (CEO of MosaicML) and Surabhi Gupta (VP of Eng at Robinhood).
Currently a team of 5, and are excited to grow that number with your help.
We're looking for a talented engineer to own our backend function and help us continue to exponentiate our trajectory.
Candidate requirements
- 2+ years of experience working in early stage, high-growth startups (former founder is a big plus) - can be flexible, we're more focused on the type of work they've done than the number of years they've worked.
- Candidates should show clear evidence of rapid professional growth in previous roles. For junior candidates, this could mean multiple internships at well-known software companies or rapid promotions (less than two years per role) if they stayed with one company.
- Strong backend experience in python, java, node, rust, etc. - track record of being a strong backend engineer more important than specific language
- High level of autonomy, experience growing products from 0-1 in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working on social or B2C products
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate system design concepts and technical solutions clearly to team members
- Excited to work in-office with the team in San Francisco
Nice-to-haves
- What could make your candidate stand out
- Experience building scalable data systems
- CS degree or similar from a top university
