Position Overview:
The Facility Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities related to the efficient and safe operation of the Cheyenne Wyoming facility. This includes managing daily operations, staffing, training, maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the shredding, ferrous, and non-ferrous departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Lead and manage the team, including hiring, training, discipline, and termination decisions as necessary.
- Engage regularly with customers to maintain strong, professional relationships, ensuring satisfaction and addressing any issues.
- Assess scrap materials and determine appropriate grading and pricing; issue payments to customers when required.
- Foster positive relationships with both commercial and peddler customers.
- Ensure adherence to company safety and environmental goals, including compliance with ISO standards, OSHA regulations, and other relevant policies.
- Oversee facility maintenance, including the inspection, repair, and replacement of building and equipment as needed.
- Manage costs and monitor expenditures, taking proactive steps to meet or exceed yard volume, net profit, and ROI targets.
- Prepare and review annual budgets and monthly operating reports to track performance.
- Operate yard equipment and perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Director of Operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Previous experience in operations management within the shredding or recycling industry is required.
- A degree in business, management, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all levels of the organization, as well as external vendors and customers.
- Ability to travel occasionally to other facilities or customer sites as needed. A valid driver’s license is required.
