We are recruiting on an exclusive and retained basis for a Director of Operations role on behalf of a leading packaging industry manufacturer. This is a senior role within a dynamic global business. They are a market leader globally with an excellent reputation for product quality and service.
This is an exciting role with the opportunity to shape operational strategy in a complex and fast moving company. There is responsibility for one of their major locations manufacturing product for their global customers. The role reports into the Chief Operations and Supply Chain Officer and is based from their Asheville, NC site.
Job Purpose:
To lead and organize the operational and manufacturing activities of this division. Encompassing a broad product portfolio. Managing and coaching an experienced and motivated team and striving for continuous improvement across the operation. To have overall responsibility for the safety and environmental compliance of the site. This person will take clear ownership of the relationships, strategic initiatives and major customers to drive for success.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for manufacturing operations, warehousing, safety, facilities, equipment, housekeeping, maintenance and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in long-range strategic planning for the site.
- Oversee the development of annual operating plans for capital projects and manufacturing budgets. Manage the operations to perform to the plan accordingly.
- Coordination of continuous improvement projects. Accountable for driving Lean initiatives throughout the Plant to ensure they are fully embraced and implemented.
- Profitably grow the Plant and achieve goals measured weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually. Works with internal and external customers to promote and leverage Company technologies, systems, products, services and processes.
- Leads strategy deployment for the Plant initiatives and growth. Leads Manufacturing functions to ensure operational efficiency and economy.
- Ensures the Plant has proper inventory, production control scheduling, shipping/receiving logistics and quality procedures in place.
- Attract, retain and develop high potential talent within the organization.
- Develop and assure successful implementation of annual and long term financial and business plans
- Contribute to a positive and productive work environment by consistently utilizing Company Mission and Guiding Principles.
What we are looking for:
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering or technical manufacturing field (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred). Master’s Degree in related field or MBA preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5-10 years manufacturing experience and 3-5+ years Management experience in a manufacturing environment. The qualified candidate should have extensive experience and training in the application of a range of continuous improvement tools six sigma (black belt preferred), lean manufacturing techniques, 5-S, value stream mapping, etc.
- Ideal candidate will have experience driving and leading a culture open to and thriving through the change leadership challenges, and will be act as a competent change agent. This will also carry over into making improvements and driving a robust safety culture.
- Turnaround exposure with a track record of success in meeting objectives quickly and effectively will be essential to successfully staying on schedule and meeting quarterly and annual objectives.
