Under minimal supervision, the Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining compliance to ISO 9001:2000 quality systems. Provides quality engineering service through DOE, SPC and Product Quality plans. Develop and monitor product and process for conformance to control plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Establish documentation of procedures, training and leadership in SPC, DOE and Quality Plans.
- System audits (managing and performing) and working with Continuous Improvement Teams (leadership role) to improve the processes.
- Provide leadership between supplier, purchasing, design engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and QA in resolving quality concerns on purchased parts and materials.
- Ensure quality standards are met during production, resolve quality issues, and analyze SPC data.
- Responsible for maintaining weekly review activities, developing and implementing quality improvement strategies and plans for improvement programs and ensure proper record keeping is enforced.
- Develop quality teams and corrective action plans.
- Publish weekly and monthly reports and summaries to management as required.
- Provide written and verbal reports of quality issues and current status of activities to management, suppliers and customers.
- Participate and lead in projects to address quality issues that are intended to drive continual improvements by assigning tasks to the appropriate areas of responsibilities and target specific dates for corrective action plan implementation.
- Develop and implement training program as required to ensure a complete understand go four requirements to meet form, fit function and appearance.
- Maintenance of the calibration system with manufacturing and calibration contractor.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree (B. S.) in Engineering, Quality Management, Business or Manufacturing from an accredited four-year College or University; and three to five years of related experience and/or training within all facets of quality control and auditing, lean processes and engineering; Master's Degree preferred. Six Sigma Green/Black belt certification preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word, MS PowerPoint Word Processing software. Knowledge of IS9000 software and programs. AS400 query knowledge preferred.
