BIM Coordinator Job Description
The BIM Coordinator acts as a key implementation source of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for assigned projects and maintains effective relationships with design, project, and sub-contract teams. Converting the 2D design of HVAC and/or Mechanical systems to create accurate 3D models ensuring constructability. This role involves coordinating with various teams to ensure effective collaboration, data management, and adherence to project standards and Edwards Engineering standards.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and detail-oriented, understanding construction methodology as it applies to mechanical systems, and its application in BIM Modeling processes and drawing production.

Responsibilities:
- Attend internal kick-off meetings with project management team and BIM Manager.
- Review and understand complete scope of work, BIM schedule, and project schedule.
- Review current plans, specifications, Revit models, equipment submittals, piping and ductwork matrices and other documentation from project manager, project engineer, architect, and other subcontractors.
- Review submittals and coordinate layout requirements with project manager and/or field team.
- Create and maintain project Revit models.
- Electronic file management and organization per department standards.
- Review architectural and structural drawings for coordination with mechanical systems.
- Visit job site as needed.
- Lead and/or participate in multi-trade BIM coordination meetings.
- Assist in preparing RFI’s for Project Manager.
- Conduct Navisworks clash detection and resolution sessions to identify and address potential conflicts in the model.
- Create coordinated construction shop drawings within guidelines of EEI and/or General Contractor project standards.
- Generate accurate material lists for construction team material procurement.
- Prepare fabrication spool drawings from coordinated models.
- Complete internal quality review checklists for all items submitted to the project team.
- Communicate with the project team to ensure that fabrication/installation documents provided meet construction schedule requirements. Work with the overall project team to ensure that documents are provided with enough time for everyone to review.
- Maintain contact with the project team to understand schedule priorities, sequencing issues and changes to installation.
- Work with field team to create as-built drawings and ensure thorough accuracy to help with project closeout.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors and engineers.
Qualifications:
- Experience working as an HVAC BIM Coordinator and/or associate degree in a relevant field (BIM Modeling, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering).
- Proficiency in BIM modeling and drawing production, specializing in Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of other BIM modeling related software (Fabrication, Evolve, etc.) is a plus.
- Competency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook).
- Experience in Document Management.
- Requires an ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and to adjust to changing situations & schedules.
- Requires strong problem-solving skills, great attention to detail, accuracy and an ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Must be dependable, organized and self-motivated.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, within all company divisions/departments.
