Millwright Technician- rotating equipment
Location: Lafayette, LA
Position Type: 6 months contract and may be extended
Schedule: Mon- Fri 6AM-2:30PM ( rotating off hours on call , night and weekend)
Pay: $30-$35/HR
Responsibilities:
- Installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and equipment
- Installing new machinery and equipment, as well as repairing and maintaining existing machinery
- Include everything change and laser align pumps, mechanical seals, gearboxes, valves and generators, completing preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines.
- Fabrication and welding may be required to fabricate and weld low-complexity parts or components to repair or modify machinery.
- Alignment and leveling, ensure that machinery is properly aligned and level to prevent damage and ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving, diagnosing and resolving issues with machinery and equipment, often working in collaboration with other tradespeople and engineers.
- Blueprint reading and interpretation must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand the specifications and requirements for machinery installation and repair.
Qualifications/Skills:
- High-school education or GED
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment and/ or the equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
- Demonstrate high-level experience and skill for the Millwright/Mechanic craft is required (can obtain tests imparted by NCCER, Ramsey, trade schools or other nationally recognized )
- Experience with the following types of rotating equipment is preferred: Agitators, Pumps, Valves, Mechanical Seals, Gearboxes, Separators/Centrifuges, Filters/Dust Collectors, Cooling Towers, Chillers, Air Compressors, Belt-driven Equipment, Rotary Valves
- Demonstrate ability to perform high-precision machining and milling when needed.
- Detailed knowledge of laser alignment tools and applications.
- Basic welding and torch skills.
- Precision measuring using calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Bolt and torque understanding, bolt identification, use of torque wrenches, and torque specifications.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis on every failed piece of equipment seeking repair.
- Ability to understand and operate a personal computer and associated software systems.
- NCCEER, Ramsay or Trade school certificate preferred
