Job Summary:
PIC Group has an exciting opportunity for a Solar Site Safety Specialist to join the Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) team. The Solar Site Safety Specialist will be responsible for ensuring safety and compliance at operational utility-scale solar and battery storage sites across the U.S. This role involves regular travel to project sites, inspecting for quality and safety, and promoting the safety culture. Reporting to the HSSE Director, the Solar Site Safety Specialist will provide exceptional customer service while ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Inspect operational solar and battery storage sites to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Perform routine audits of safety programs and assist with developing policies and procedures that align with OSHA and DOT requirements.
• Facilitate the deployment of safety training and protocols for employees at utility-scale solar sites.
• Educate and train staff on safety culture and site safety expectations.
• Identify potential hazards during site visits and ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Coordinate and conduct periodic drills for electrical safety protocols at O&M facilities.
• Provide support to the field services team for compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with contractors, customers, and vendors to ensure alignment on safety practices.
• Prepare reports documenting site visits, safety concerns, and recommended corrective actions.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the job site for extended periods, often on uneven terrain.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.
• Tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
Job Requirements:
• Experience working independently in a remote environment.
• Electrical operational experience, including knowledge of OSHA standards (CFR 1910).
• Ability to travel 50-75% to multiple job sites across the U.S.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• OSHA 511 certification preferred
• NFPA 70E training preferred
Education / Experience:
• Electrical safety or maintenance experience in a field environment.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in utility-scale solar or related fields preferred.
