Contour Engineering is currently recruiting for Civil Design Engineers with preferably 1-6 years civil engineering professional design experience. Entry-level engineers will also be considered. We are looking for aggressive, self-motivated engineers aspiring to join an expanding engineering firm. An E.I.T. and/or P.E. certification is desirable.

Contour Engineering, LLC is a leading engineering consulting firm specializing in comprehensive land development services throughout Washington state, including civil engineering, land surveying, and land planning services. Contour was formed in 2006 by Brett Allen, P.E. and has since grown to over 30 employees as we look to further expand. We offer quality engineering services of civic and public work related projects, with Contour and our staff having worked in nearly every jurisdiction in the Puget Sound Region ranging from Bellingham to Vancouver and Aberdeen to Ellensburg.
About the Position
Our Design Engineers work on a variety of project types, which include commercial development, single- and multi-family residential, mixed-use complexes, subdivisions, utilities, and light industrial facilities.
The following tasks will be performed by the Design Engineer:
- Perform civil design calculations and prepare construction plans, exhibits, reports and other documents.
- Attend design meetings and interact with other consultants, reviewing agencies and Clients.
- Meet with Team Leads and/or Project Managers to review project development and assess any issues.
- Assists with other duties assigned by Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
- Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning the stages of, and risk analysis for, a project.
- Compile and submit permit applications to local and state agencies, verifying that projects comply with various regulations, as well as company design standards.
- Provide construction cost estimates.
- Use AutoCAD (Civil 3D) and other design software to plan and design project to be in line with industry and government standards.
- Use of Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Applicant should expect a competency skills test on items such as AutoCad, land development applications, and report writing.
Location
The position we are looking to fill will work out of our Gig Harbor office, a few minutes off the Burnham Drive Exit. There is always plenty of free parking and the site is close to the Gig Harbor North shopping center, as well as the beautiful downtown waterfront along Harborview Drive.
