GENERAL SUMMARY:
Oversees the accounting function of the bank and by performing the following duties personally or through tasks delegated to employees. Works under minimal supervision of the President.
ESSENTIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participating in the hiring process; providing thorough training for employees; planning, assigning, and reviewing work; scheduling employees; issuing oral instructions; addressing complaints and resolves problems; coaching and disciplining employees; monitoring and evaluating performance; and recommending pay adjustments and bonus pay.
- Approves vacation and sick leave; verifies and corrects time entry; forwards to HR Manager for processing.
- Oversees accounting function of the bank, including general ledger, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, accruals, account reconciliation, and bond accounting.
- Reviews general ledger entries.
- Distributes investment income to various accounts, according to budgeted percentages, to compile investment journals.
- Transact and review statements of transactions such as purchases and sales of securities, compares items with records to verify accuracy.

- Monitors and plans daily cash management position.
- Prepares month-end financial statements and graphs for management and the Board of Directors; researches and explains any unusual items or discrepancies; reports to Board on portfolio risk and recommends steps to control risk; reports to Board on portfolio performance compared to budget.
- Analyzes bond cash flow; updates bond analysis report.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct supervision to one Controller and one Accounts Payable Clerk
Provides efficient training to staff in operations and policies and conducts staff meetings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Extensive knowledge of all banking concepts and applicable regulations
- High level of computer skills with advanced knowledge of various computer programs
- Advanced written, verbal, and analytical skills.
- Must demonstrate good work habits, maintain a professional appearance and attitude, and follow policies and procedures.
- This level of knowledge is normally acquired through an MBA or Bachelors with a CPA license with 5 years of experience in upper level management in a financial institution.
