The Product Engineer (PE) will partner with a Product Manager to successfully manage and grow their product line in an entrepreneurial environment within the company. The PE is the product subject matter expert and works with suppliers on all technical aspects of product development, evaluation, new product introduction, and support through the product life cycle. Primary product ownership includes robotics. The PE is a servant leader and works cross-functionally with internal and external teams.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage your experience and product knowledge to select and assist in the development of the best products to grow the product line and meet customers’ needs
- Product ownership throughout the product life cycle
- Evaluate and test new products and technologies
- Support product through new product introductions, documentation, training, and second-tier backline support (only during normal business hours)
- Life-cycle projects to improve product quality or lower product cost
- Supplier evaluation including product offering, technology roadmap, and support capabilities
- Some self-directed domestic and international travel is required
Qualifications:
- Requires education in a technical discipline with a preference for BS in mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering, or at least 10 years of related experience
- Requires 6 years experience (10 years preferred) in industrial control & automation market or OEM/manufacturing of process instrumentation products. Preferred experience includes working knowledge of process sensors (pressure, temperature, flow, level, etc.) demonstrated by temperature/process controls and signal conditioners product application, control system integration, hands-on calibration, configuration, technical support, and/or product design (similar experience in related markets such as building automation and medical equipment may be considered).
- Experience with industrial control products such as PLCs, HMIs, process instrumentation, sensors, safety, power products or signaling is desirable
- Experience with agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, etc.) is desirable
- Experience with CAD such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. is desirable
- Must possess self-confidence, organizational skills, time management skills, and excellent communication skills
- Must also be a self-starter who can work on and manage projects independently, meet deadlines, and have excellent interpersonal skills
