JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/objective
1. Performs Diversified duties in several trades: Electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, plumbing and building trades. Troubleshoots and repairs machines, processes, and system as they related to the overall maintenance function of manufacturing facility. Works closely with the health and safety department to insurance employee safety is maintained at acceptable levels.
2. Tools & Machines: hand tools, machinist tools, meters, gauges, precision measuring instruments, electrical test equipment, milling machine, grinder, lathe, burning torch, welding machine, instruments used in the monitoring of employee health and safety and other equipment used to maintain equipment and systems.
3. Materials Used: Diagrams, blueprints, equipment manuals, metals, cleaning agents, lubricants, chemicals, log sheets, chemical manifests, and other materials used in the maintenance function.
Essential functions
- Installs equipment and processes as they relate to the manufacturing of medical devices using sketches, drawings, and prints.
- Able to maintain the PM performance and KPI for Maintenance through maintenance software.
- Performs water treatment and monitors discharge of waste to the sewer system; documents such activities to meet federal and state compliance regulations.
- Maintains and cleans systems and equipment as required.
- Keeps their working area according to six S (6S) program.
General:
- Performs minor/major repairs to the building, systems & equipment; including electrical & mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, boiler systems, and grounds maintenance.
- Performs preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment
- Maintains inventories and orders material as needed
- Safely work with a wide variety of precision hand and power tools related to field and shop work
- Assists with industrial hygiene studies as they relate to employee safety, i.e. hearing conservation, ventilation studies etc.
- Completes in-house calibration, maintains logs, and records data as it relates to GMP, ISO, FDA, OSHA, EPA, DEP and other regulatory agencies
- Performs other related duties as assigned or required
- Maintains mechanical and electrical systems as they relate to the maintenance, repair and/or improvement of industrial machinery
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Ability to read and understand diagrams, blueprints, equipment manuals, metals, chemicals, and other materials used in the maintenance function.
- Work with a wide variety of precision tools such as veneer calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, levels, gauge blocks and optical and laser alignment tooling
- Ability to fabricate basics parts using hand tools and power machine tools such as drill presses, milling machines, grinders and lathes.
- Designs control systems and builds control panels for specialty equipment used in the manufacturing process
- Ability to demonstrate basic welding knowledge and application.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control circuits for motors, and electrical control devices for production equipment and systems
- Troubleshoot PLC (programmable logic controller), and software and hardware, making recommendations and performing software changes.
- Work from prints, diagrams, specifications and instructions covering emergency and scheduled repairs – should understand “ladder logic”.
- Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate and test a wide variety of instrumentation (including but not limited to transmitters, actuators, sensors, Encoders, potentiometers, meters, tubing and control valves) for improved reliability and uptime.
- Read, interpret and perform wiring tasks according to specifications and schematics for the installation and repair of equipment.
Competencies
- Ability to read and understand diagrams, blueprints, equipment manuals, metals, chemicals, and other materials used in the maintenance function.
- Proficient in the use of a variety of hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery.
- Basic knowledge and experience in computer usage.
Supervisory responsibilities
Required education and experience
- 3+ years of work experience preferably in manufacturing
- Successful completion of approved formal apprenticeship program in this specialized field OR the equivalent in work experience and/or on job training, or any combination thereof

Physical demands & Travel required
- Work at heights greater than ten feet (Example, working in a manlift or on a ladder) Perform heavy manual labor requiring manual dexterity. Move heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) long distances (more than 20 ft.).
- Have the appropriate body coordination with or without reasonable accommodation to do the following for extended periods of time: climb ladders, bending, twisting, kneeling, and crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting in varying temperatures (hot/cold)
