POSITION SUMMARY: In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing plans and developing precise cost estimates for mechanical projects, with a primary focus on plumbing systems. This includes working on both design/build and plan & spec projects, while also contributing to estimates for piping, ductwork, and insulation systems as needed. Your work will involve a detailed review of blueprints and customer specifications, ensuring accurate cost forecasting and effective project planning within the mechanical contracting sector.

- Review and interpret plans and specifications.
- Identify project bid requirements, scope of work, critical schedules, non-standard conditions, cost impacts, material and equipment data, safety and compliance requirements, risk management, and special requirements.
- Utilize estimation software to calculate labor and material costs, focusing on plumbing systems, while also supporting estimates for piping, duct, and insulation systems.
- Work on plumbing system details, including system sizing, calculations, capacities, equipment selections, best practices, design drawings, code compliance, and related design data.
- Learn and use internal software for project estimates.
- Prepare proposal and bid submittal documents for plan and spec projects and assist with design/build documents.
- Attend pre-bid meetings.
- Collaborate with contractors on successful bids to gather necessary information.
- Facilitate project handoff and estimate information to Project Managers.
- Assist Project Managers with change orders and budget adjustments.
- Work required schedule and hours to meet deadlines and support the estimation team.
- Stay updated with software updates and industry standards.
- Participate in company training programs and attend external conferences or seminars as needed.
- Perform special assignments, additional projects, or other job-related duties as required by the executive team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- College degree and/or equivalent work experience.
- Prior estimating experience in mechanical contracting preferred but not required.
- Experience with Estimation Software preferred.
- Proficient with computers, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and internet resources.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Strong ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Effective team player and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail and meticulous follow-through; capable of handling sensitive and confidential information.
