Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Development Manager/Director to join our team and drive the development of large-scale solar projects from early-stage concept through final investment decision. This key role will require a professional with deep design expertise and hands-on experience in project development. An EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) background is a strong advantage, as this position involves working closely with engineering and construction teams to ensure project efficiency and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Development: Lead the full lifecycle of utility-scale solar projects, including site selection, permitting, interconnection, and financing.
- Design & Engineering Oversight: Utilize your design background to optimize project layouts and electrical configurations. Provide technical expertise in solar PV system design and engineering, ensuring alignment with performance and cost objectives.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, regulatory bodies, and permitting agencies to align project goals and maintain schedule integrity.
- EPC Coordination: Support the EPC team by providing insights on project requirements, design adjustments, and technical documentation.
- Budget & Schedule Management: Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, balancing financial objectives with project timelines.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure projects meet all regulatory requirements, monitor project risks, and implement mitigation strategies as necessary.
- Team Leadership: Collaborate across functions to ensure a seamless development process and support junior team members in technical and project management areas as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in solar project development, ideally at a utility scale.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in solar PV design and familiarity with electrical and structural engineering principles.
- Experience with design and layout tools such as AutoCAD or Helioscope.
- Knowledge of EPC processes and best practices.
- Project Management Skills: Proven experience managing project schedules, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to convey complex technical information to a diverse audience.
- Location: Ability to work on-site in Massachusetts with potential travel to project sites as needed.
