JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global is seeking a Director of Academic Networks for one of our top higher ed clients in the Charlottesville, VA area. In this role as the Director of Academic Networks, you will lead a team of 18 dedicated professionals, including a manager and 17 network team members.
This dynamic team is responsible for the management of all wired and wireless networking, intranet access on the Academic side of the University, and various other University locations. Your role is to shape the strategy for network evolution in terms of services and technology. You'll be at the forefront of change, interfacing with both private and public cloud and storage teams within the Enterprise Infrastructure organization.
In addition, you will have a direct impact on our customers, collaborating with ITS customer support functions to resolve escalations, complex issues, and consult on challenging solutions. This will be a hybrid role as you will need to come on-site as needed for facetime with your direct reports and supporting the teams when help and guidance is needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor's degree
- 5 years of experience with Network Architecture. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Solid background in designing and operating large-scale networks.
- At least 3 years of management experience
- Demonstrated experience in Network operations best practices, including reliability, change control, root cause analysis, CMDB, and documentation (ITILv4 practices).
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are a must, as you'll be interfacing with various teams and stakeholders.
- A CCNA or equivalent certification demonstrates your commitment to excellence in networking.
