The Coriell Institute for Medical Research is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance and Safety Manager to join our operational team.
The position’s primary responsibility as Quality Manager is to oversee Coriell’s Quality Management System (QMS) which is certified to the ISO 9001:2015 standard. The person in this role will maintain all necessary documentation within the QMS including document control/document review, management review, audits, and corrective/preventative actions; perform all required internal quality audits and inspections including audit reporting to management; and complete in-house laboratory equipment calibrations as required. As the Safety Manager this individual will be responsible for Coriell’s safety programming by providing employee safety training, participating in safety inspections and drills, OSHA record keeping and reporting, and serving on Coriell’s Institutional Biosafety Committee. Adjacent responsibilities in compliance also apply to this position including: waste chemical disposal and various infrastructure reports and certifications.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Laboratory Production, QA, and Safety - the successful incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring that Coriell maintains the highest level of quality.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in life science or comparable technical area
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality management, experience with ISO 9001:2015 is required for this position
- Minimum 2 years of experience in laboratory safety regulatory requirements, preferably in the biological sciences field is required
Competencies Needed:
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma, or similar certification or training
- The candidate must be highly organized and work well in a collaborative environment.
- Strong candidates with previous laboratory experience and previous experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to work independently and manage administrative workload, while also leading the QA/Safety responsibilities for the organization.
Physical Requirements:
Candidate must be able to list 30 pounds, and be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, for period of time that are necessary to complete the responsibilities of this position.

- Shipping/Receiving Dock,
- Biobanking Facilities,
- Office Environments.
