Would you like to join one of the leading companies in the data analysis space, helping organisations to make sense of large amounts of data. This is an opportunity to work with the US government and defense as we build out a brand new team.
As a senior software engineer backend, you will be responsible for the core production infrastructure, 100s of Kubernetes clusters from on-prem to major cloud hyperscalers in classified environments.
The role:
- You will design and build managed Kubernetes offerings across all environments
- Responsible for bootstrapping and operating the entire highside fleet of K8s clusters with zero manual steps by building industry leading tooling and contributing to core CNCF components
- Responsible for ensuring scale, stability and security across a matrix of compliance regimes and hosting infrastructure types
- Pre-empting issues in production and ensuring investments in automation and self-healing systems

- Build automation and establish standards for operating K8s securely at scale with zero manual ops overhead
- Drive innovation through adoption of novel K8s features and CNCF tools, making upstream contributions as needed
- Design the next generation of infrastructure through a deep understanding of internal systems and CNCF standards
- Deliver a container runtime to challenging new classified environment types - new clouds, on premise, edge devices
What are we looking for:
- Active security clearance
- At least 2-6 years deep experience with Kubernetes (not just a user)
- Experience building performance-optimized systems
- Able to show "extreme ownership" - can demonstrate that you have owned core systems and have been a one company long enough to own big pieces of tech
- An understanding of the tradeoffs that fast moving startups need to make
- Product and customer minded
- Experience building complex backend systems, managing infrastructure
