Position Summary
The Systems Engineer II supports B. F. Saul Company & Affiliates network, servers, and end user computing environment in Bethesda, MD and various properties that are generally in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. This is an on-site position.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Information Technology, Systems Engineer II:
Travel within the DC metro area may be necessary.
Network Support:
- Managing security appliances
- Vulnerability management of servers and workstations
- Create and manage client and server security policies and configurations
- Review security logs and triage threats
- Troubleshooting network problems
- Reporting on system performance
- Assist with software and hardware upgrades
- Installing and configuring LAN/WAN network devices
- VOIP phone system support
- Hyper-V virtualization support
- SAN management and support
End-user Support:
- Applications (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
- Network logon assistance (password reset)
- Hardware problem isolation and reporting
- Meeting Setup with Teams and various platforms
Projects as Needed:
- Operating system replacement
- Software suite upgrades
- Network auditing documentation
- Disaster recovery documentation
- Scheduling and managing out of band upgrades and installation to core infrastructure
Selection Criteria of the Information Technology, Systems Engineer II:
Any or all of the following would be beneficial, but are not required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related Information Technology discipline
- Microsoft Office Specialist
- Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator
- Microsoft Azure Certification
- At least 7-10 years’ experience in the information technology field.
- Working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019 and higher, Active Directory, and Azure AD / Entra ID management.
- Working knowledge of Fortinet, Dell, Cisco, HP or similar networking equipment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft/Office 365 and Microsoft Defender ATP.
- Able to navigate Microsoft Teams and OneDrive effectively and teach users as needed.
- Ability to plan and oversee projects via project management tools (e.g. Jira, MS Project, Planner, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving, and decision-making skills with ability to identify and resolve operational issues and escalate as necessary.
- Candidates must be self-motivated, work well with others, and be able to communicate effectively with non-technical personnel.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $100,000 - $180,000 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held. Base pay is one component of B. F. Saul Company & Affiliates total compensation package, which also includes access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, bonus plans and more.
